Singapore Racing: Skywalk Wins $250,000 Feature

Battle Paint four-year-old gelding Skywalk picked up the biggest victory of his career when winning the S$250,000 Korea Racing Authority Trophy (1200m) at Kranji racecourse on Sunday.

The James Peters-trained runner overcame a wide alley to settle in the slipstream of stablemate and leader Grand Cross (Craig Grylls) before distancing his rivals in the final 300m.

“I put a ring around this race right after the Lion City Cup,” Peters said. “It was the perfect race for him given the conditions of the race.

“He seems to love the Polytrack. I’ll see how he pulls up. The New Year Cup is some time away, but I guess I will be looking for such mini-feature races on the Polytrack for him.”

Skywalk has been through the Karaka sales ring twice, initially as a yearling when he was sold for $32,000 and then as a two-year-old when the China Horse Club went to $100,000 to secure the gelding.
