Daughter Of Lonhro Overpowers Field To Record First Stakes Win

A stunning last-to-first effort by Soothing in Saturday’s Listed W H Wylie Stakes at Morphettville has added yet another Stakes winner to the impressive record of her sire Lonhro.

Soothing had won six races before her latest success that goes down as one of her best. Jockey Racquel Clark was content to settle at the rear of the field after Soothing missed the start slightly, working to the outside of the field on straightening and finishing far too well for her opposition to score by two lengths.

She becomes the 85th Stakes winner for Lonhro who maintains a record of better than 70 per cent winners to runners.

Soothing is from the Bel Esprit mare Dreamy who is from the family of the world champion sprinter Black Caviar through her great-granddam the good racehorse and outstanding producer Scandinavia.

Lonhro is standing the southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 including GST.
