Not A Single Doubt Son Trills In The Villiers

A record of seven wins, four placings and more than $800,000 from 18 starts says a lot about a horse.

It says he’s consistently competitive against quality opposition and it would be surprising if he isn’t a stakes winner.

That record belongs to Not A Single Doubt’s 4YO son Quackerjack after Saturday’s $250,000 ATC Villiers S. 1600m G2, his maiden stakes success.

Trainer Mark Newnham was full of praise for the 4YO gelding.

“He never gives in and that’s why he is such a special horse to everyone in the stable. His style of racing and how hard he tries.

“You put him on a wet track or dry track. He just gets on pace and does his thing.”

With a ballot exemption for the $3 million Doncaster Handicap G1 on 4 April now secured, Quackerjack will likely head to the paddock for a short break.

Bred by Ged & Jan Nolan of Rosari Farm, Quackerjack is the best of four winners from the New Zealand-bred mare Quack it (by Ustinov), a winning half-sister of Listed winners Anatina & Pricked, descended from the speedy Group 3 winner Mother Duck.

The chestnut colt with the broad white blaze and the near-flaxen mane & tail was bought from Rosari Farm for $240,000 by his trainer at the 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale. Quackerjack’s ownership group includes  Frank Mittiga, whose sale-ring support encouraged the newly licensed Newnham to keep bidding, G1G Racing & Breeding and Nick Vass.

Quackerjack capped a tremendous day for Nick Vass & G1G, also co-owners of the $500,000 Inglis Nursery RL winner Wild Ruler (by Snitzel) and dominant debut winner Bartley (Written Tycoon-Rationality), bought from Arrowfield’s 2019 Magic Millions draft.

The Villiers win also capped a tremendous week for Not A Single Doubt who has been represented by three new stakeswinners, 2YOs Not An Option & Farnan and Quackerjack, in 8 days. That takes his lifetime record to 69 stakeswinners – 7.7% of his runners.

Not A Single Doubt’s 38-strong consignment for the 2020 Magic Millions Sale includes 4 fillies and a colt to be offered by Arrowfield.
