Winners For 2016 Tatt’s Tiara Day

The Tatt’s Tiara meeting will be held at Eagle Farm on Saturday. The course proper was rated a Soft 7 on Thursday and with light showers leading up to a sunny Saturday in Brisbane, Eagle Farm is likely to be on the better side of a Soft track.

The Chris Munce-trained Snow Fields drops in class on Saturday and is the horse to beat in the Singapore Airlines 2YO Fillies Plate (Brisbane Race 1, 1200m). Last start, she settled a long way back in the Listed Lancaster Stakes over this track & trip and eventually finished 9th beaten 4.4 lengths. Munce will put blinkers on Snow Fields for the first time to sharpen the filly up. From barrier 3, I believe Snow Fields will settle a lot more forward and Hong Kong-based Zac Purton will be on board which is another plus. Snow Fields will be the horse they all have to hold out.

Amovatio was beaten by Hopfgarten last start in the Wayne Wilson Mile but can turn the table on the Mossman gelding on Saturday in the FKG Group Spear Chief Handicap (Brisbane Race 3, 1500m). Amovatio has been racing very consistently and the smaller field on Saturday will suit him well. Champion hoop Hugh Bowman will be on board again and even with 60kg, he will run over the top of this field.

Team Snowden is set the continue their good form by taking out the A M Giles Quality Handicap with top weight Pajaro (Brisbane Race 4. 1830m). After winning the Scone Cup, Pajaro then finished two close 2nds in Brisbane over the mile. Down in class on Saturday will make Pajaro’s job easier and stepping up to 1800m will hold no fear for the gelding. Pajaro is the highest rated horse in the race and he should win accordingly.

Class mare Azkadellia has been in tip top form and is the deserved favourite for the Tatt’s Tiara (Brisbane Race 8, 1400m). The Ciaron Maher-trained 4YO has not finished out of a place in her first 6 starts this preparation which includes victory in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes, before being blocked for a run entering the straight in the Stradbroke Handicap last start, eventually finishing 10th. Azkadellia has a good record over 1400m with 2 wins & 2 placings from 5 starts over the trip, and she can handle any types of track condition. Azkadellia looks set to become the 3rd favourite in a row to take out the last Group 1 race of the season, the Tatt’s Tiara.
