Winners For 2018 Golden Rose Day

The Golden Rose meeting will be held at Rosehill this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with mainly fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill is likely to be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Gerald Ryan-trained Nuke will have conditions to suit in the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1300m). The 3 YO has been in pretty good form winning two starts back over 1200m at Canterbury. The gelding could only finish 4th last start on a Soft track. Back on top of the ground on Saturday should help and regular jockey James Innes Jnr will once again be on board. From a nice gate (3), Innes will settle mid-field on the fence. With a soft run in transit, Nuke should finish too strongly for these lots. Currently at $16.00 in the fixed odds market, Nuke represents a great value bet.

Last start winner Invincibella can continue her winning run in the Golden Pendant (Sydney Race 6, 1400m). The Waller-trained mare has come back in tip top order winning the Sheraco Stakes (1200m) 1st up a fortnight ago. Stepping up to 1400m 2nd up looks ideal and the 5YO also has a good record at the trip having only ever missed a place twice from 8 attempts. Hugh Bowman retains the ride on the mare on Saturday. She can handle any track conditions and being a backmarker, barrier 10 should not present any problems. Bowman will settle towards the tail of the field and bide his time. Invincibella will let down strongly in the straight.

Graff has emerged as a top Spring 3YO after putting in two top efforts this preparation and is the deserved favourite in the Golden Rose market (Sydney Race 7, 1400m). First up in the San Domenico Stakes, Graff had absolutely annihilated the field with a great rail hugging run from jockey Jason Collett. And the 3YO was unlucky last start in The Run To The Rose having raced wide without cover from a wide gate, and was bumped twice during the race and became unbalanced. The colt did a great job to recover and finished 2nd to Lean Mean Machine. Drawn nicely in barrier 4 on Saturday, Collett will settle just behind the leading bunch and Graff will be ready to pounce in the straight.
