Winners For 2019 Tattersall’s Tiara Day

The Tattersall’s Tiara meeting will be held at Eagle Farm this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with mainly fine weather in Brisbane leading up to the weekend, Eagle Farm will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Team Waterhouse-trained Discharged looks a strong chance to take out the Winning Edge Presentation Stakes (Brisbane Race 2, 1400m). This Snitzel 2YO won well two starts back over 1200m at Canterbury before finishing 5th to Prince Fawaz & Reloaded over 1400m at Randwick on 25th May. And Prince Fawaz went on to claim the Group 1 J.J. Atkins Stakes with Reloaded finished 3rd. And that’s good form for this 2YO handicap race. From barrier 6, Tim Clark should be able to go to the lead without much effort and Discharged will be able to control the pace and be hard to catch.

Vega One maybe at short odds in the Stella Atois 3YO Plate but the gelding looks to have everything going his way in the race (Brisbane Race 4, 1400m). The Tony Gollan-trained 3YO has been racing consistently with 2 wins and 2 placings from 5 starts this campaign. Last start in the Fred Best Classic, Vega One was racing too keenly in a slowly run race and Jeff Lloyd had no choice but to go to the lead and Vega One became a sitting shot in the straight. With a fair pace on Saturday, in-form jockey Blake Shinn should settle behind the leading bunch one off the fence from barrier 7. With only 57kg under the set weight condition, Vega One would show his class and finish strongly in the run home.

Godolphin-owned filly Multaja is the form horse leading into the Tattersall’s Tiara and she is primed to peak in Saturday’s feature race (Brisbane Race 8, 1400m). The 3YO has been in terrific form winning 3 times with two 2nds in her last 5 starts. Multaja is pretty bomb-proof as she can handle any track conditions and can settle anywhere in transit. Premier Brisbane jockey Jeff Lloyd will be onboard and that’s another plus. Having drawn barrier 13 (into barrier 10 after taking out the emergencies), Lloyd is likely to settle behind mid-field and with good pace in the race, Multaja will be flying home and run over the top of this field.
