Winners For 2020 Golden Rose Day

The Golden Rose meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with only minor drizzle in Sydney on Friday, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Carzoff is going to breakthrough for a well deserved win in the Colin Stephen Quality (Sydney Race 2, 2400m). This Waller-trained veteran has been racing consistently without winning and the 8YO did run a nose 2nd over this track & trip earlier this preparation. Last start, Carzoff finished a good 6th in the Newcastle Cup behind the in-form Mugatoo. Nicely drawn in gate 4 and has been allotted only 2kg above the limit (55kg), James McDonald will give Carzoff every chance to win the Colin Stephen.

The promising Love Tap can continue his unbeaten record by taking out the Gloaming Stakes (Sydney Race 4, 1800m). Winning all his three career starts so far, this Team Freedman-trained gelding is very versatile as he can handle any track conditions and can settle anywhere in transit. Stepping up to 1800m 4th up looks perfect and Nash Rawiller will continue his association with the 3YO. Having drawn the rail, Rawiller will settle just behind the pace and get a cushy run. Love Tap is the horse they all have to beat.

That good colt North Pacific can turn the table on race favourite Rothfire in the Golden Rose (Sydney Race 7, 1400m). Last start in the Run To The Rose, Rothfire had beaten North Pacific into 3rd placing over 1200m. And two starts back, North Pacific annihilated the Up & Coming Stakes field by 5.3 lengths over 1300. Stepping up to 1400m will really suit this Team Hawkes trained colt and he has never missed a place at Rosehill from 3 starts at the venue. Significantly Hawkes is putting winkers on the 3YO for the first time on Saturday and that could prove to be a very astute move. With pretty good pace in the race, James McDonald will settle somewhere mid-field from barrier 6 and watch North Pacific finishing over the top of the Golden Rose field.
