Winners For Saturday’s Sydney Meeting (4th Jan)

This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at the Randwick-Kensington track. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Kensington will be racing on a Good track on race day.

Top weight Hinchbeast is the best horse in the opening event at Randwick and he should win accordingly (Sydney Race 1, 1150m). This Bjorn Baker-trained 2YO colt won on debut over 1100m at Rosehill in November before consecutive 3rd placings in December. Hinchbeast is peaking 4th up and the in-form Nash Rawiller will be on board. Nicely drawn in barrier 5, Rawiller will go forward and share the lead and Hinchbeast will run away from the field in the home straight.

The unbeaten Adelong looks the horse to beat in the Schweppes Handicap (Sydney Race 4, 1100m). This lightly raced 4YO mare has won all her three career starts. Adelong’s last start victory over this trip at Randwick was particularly impressive having annihilated the field by 4 lengths leading from start to finish. Christian Reith knows the horse well and he’ll be once again be aboard on Saturday. From barrier 5, Reith will go forward and sit outside likely leader Enfleurage. Adelong could be hard to catch.

The very consistent Guise can return to the winner’s circle in the TAB Handicap (Sydney Race 5, 2400m). The Chris Waller-trained mare is a winner having won 5 times with 4 placings from 11 career starts. She fought on very well last start as she only got nosed out by Vadiyann over 2000m at Randwick a fortnight ago. The 4YO is rock hard fit and she will run the 2400m right out. Kerrin McEvoy will settle just behind the leaders from barrier 3 and Guise looks the one they all have to beat.
