Winners For Saturday’s Sydney Meeting At Rosehill (19th May)

The Sydney Saturday meeting will be held at Rosehill this weekend. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine weather in Sydney over the next couple of days, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

Top weight Seaway is the class horse in the Poitrel Hall Of Fame Handicap and is obviously the horse to beat (Sydney Race 2, 1400m). This 3YO colt has been very consistent winning 3 times with 2 seconds from 6 career starts. Seaway resumed with a 7th when 1st up in early April before a 2nd in a BM82 race. Seaway blitzed the field winning by 3 lengths last start over 1550m at Canterbury 16 days ago. Seaway has the ability to carry weight so the 60.5kg shouldn’t worry him. From barrier 9, Blake Shinn will settle the colt somewhere midfield and Seaway will be hard to hold out in the run home.

The unbeaten Coup De Man can continue his winning streak in the Highway Handicap (Sydney Race 4, 1200m). Trained by the king of the Highway races – Danny Williams, the 3YO has won his first two career starts over 1200m & 1280m so Saturday’s trip would be perfect for him. Coup De Man makes his own luck in front and adopts the catch me if you can tactics. Regular rider Nick Heywood knows the horse well and will once again be aboard the gelding. Nicely drawn in barrier 2, Heywood will take Coup De Man straight to the lead to control the pace and he’ll be hard to catch.

Last start, consistent gelding Up ‘N’ Rolling  broke through for his first win this preparation and he can make it back to back metropolitan wins in the Australian Hall Of Fame Day Handicap (Sydney Race 7, 1500m). The 5YO is unbeaten over 1500m including his last start victory in a BM84 handicap on Hawkesbury Cup day over this trip. The anticipated Good track will suit him and comeback jockey James McDonald will be on board. From barrier 3, McDonald will box seat behind the leaders and with only 56.5kg, Up “N’ Rolling will be the one they have to beat.
