Winners For Sydney’s Saturday Meeting (5th Jan 2019)

The first Sydney’s Saturday meeting of 2019 will be held at the Randwick-Kensington track. Kensington was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with mainly fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Kensington is likely to be racing on a Good track on raceday.

The 4YO gelding All Too Royal has been very consistent this preparation and he is primed to take out the Autumn Carnival On Sale Sprint (Sydney Race 2, 1150m). All Too Royal has won twice and placed twice from four starts this campaign. He was beaten a nose by Tell Me last start over this track & trip in a BM76 handicap. Up in class but down on the limit weight of only 53kg. From barrier 5, Corey Brown will settle in the one off one back position and All Too Royal will be given his chance to finish the race off strongly.

The Portelli-trained A Million Dreams is set to win back-to-back metropolitan races on Saturday (Sydney Race 4, 1300m). The 3YO has not missed a placing so far from three career starts. A Million Dreams broke through for his maiden victory last start at this track over 1250m leading from start to finish. Stepping up to 1300m 4th up is ideal. Sam Weatherley will claim 1.5kg and will bring the gelding’s weight down to 54.5kg. With a fair bit of pace in the race, Weatherley will settle behind the leading bunch on the fence and bide his time. With a cushy run in transit, A Million Dreams will be right in the finish. Currently A Million Dreams is at terrific odds of $12.00 in the fixed odds market.

The Waller-trained Gresham will be facing favourable conditions in the Kensington Handicap (Sydney Race 7, 1550m). The 4YO is backing up after finishing 3rd, beaten less than a length over this trip last Saturday. Gresham has a good record over 1600m having won 3 times with a further 6 placings from 11 attempts at the trip. Robbie Dolan’s 3kg claim will bring Gresham down to a feather weight of only 49kg. Nicely drawn in barrier 2, Dolan could well go to the lead and control the pace. With his light weight, Gresham could be hard to catch.
