Winners For Sydney’s Saturday Racing (2nd Jun)

This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens. The course proper was rated a Soft 6 on Thursday and with overcast weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.

Sebring 3YO Gresham is in terrific form and is the horse to beat in the Winter Racing – The Dark Horse Handicap (Sydney Race 2, 1500m). The Waller-trained gelding has won twice and placed twice from his 4 starts this campaign and his last start victory over this trip at Canterbury was very impressive after stalking the leader and ran away from the field winning by 4.3 lengths. Blake Shinn will be on board again and having drawn well in gate 5, Gresham will be stalking the pace once again and be pretty hard to beat.

Unbeaten 3YO Brabinger is a horse on the up and he can keep his unblemished record intact in the #Theraces Handicap (Sydney Race 3, 1200m). The Snitzel colt shows lots of promise by taking out his first 2 race starts at Newcastle over Saturday’s trip and he simply ran away from the field on both occasions. He can handle any track conditions and has drawn nicely in barrier 6 on Saturday, James McDonald can settle just behind the leaders in a one off one back position. Watch him accelerate strongly in the straight.

The Waller-trained Black On Gold has finally stepped up to a suitable trip and is primed to take out the Eremein Handicap (Sydney Race 5, 1800m). The 4YO finished mid-field in his first two starts this preparation over unsuitably short distance. Stepping up to 1800m 3rd up looks perfect and Black On Gold also has a very good record over this trip with 3 wins and a 2nd from 4 attempts. Slightly awkward gate (9) shouldn’t worry him as he’s a drop back horse anyway. With reasonable pace in the race should ensure Black On Gold finishing strongly and break through for a well deserved win.
