Winners For The Queensland Oaks Meeting (Sat, 30th May)

The Queensland Oaks meeting will be held at Doomben on Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine weather forecast for Brisbane over the next couple of days, Doomben will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill. The course proper was rated a Soft 7 on Thursday and with fine weather leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will be racing on the better side of a Soft track.

Canberra trainer Nick Olive can take out the opening event at Doomben on Saturday with the Sebring gelding ‘Bring A Secret’ (Brisbane Race 1, 1350m). The 2YO has been racing consistently and he wasn’t disgraced by finishing 6th last start in the Group 2 Qld Sires Produce Stakes over Saturday’s trip. Barrier 5 will allow Bring A Secret to settle in a lovely position just behind the pace. And fresh from his Doomben 10,000 victory, Glyn Schofield can take out another black type event on board Bring A Secret.

The Weetwood winner Mr Favulous can continue with his winning streak by taking out the Ascend Sales Trophies Lightning Handicap (Brisbane Race 2, 1050m). The 6YO veteran has been racing very consistently having missed a place only once in his past 5 starts, and he led from start to finish last start in the Weetwood from a wide gate. Coming back to 1050m with 4 weeks between run is ideal and Mr Favulous excel at the distance with 7 wins and a further 14 placings over the trip. Jeff Lloyd will once again take Mr Favulous straight to the lead and try to run them ragged. Currently at $9.00 in the fixed odds market, Mr Favulous is at tremendous value.

Chris Waller has a strong hand in the Eagle Farm Cup with 5 runners in the 7 horse field (Brisbane Race 4, 2200m). Moriarty seems to be the best of the Waller’s lot with his good 4th last start in the WFA Doomben Cup. Moriarty came from a long way back that day and eventually beaten by the form horse of the winter carnival Pornichet. Stepping up to 2200m on Saturday will suit and jockey of the moment Blake Shinn will be on board on Saturday.

Winx looks the stand-out filly in this year’s Queensland Oaks (Brisbane Race 7, 2200m). The Street Cry filly was mighty impressive last start in the Sunshine Coast Guineas coming from last to win running away. Winx has a good turn of foot, has proven that she can run out the trip strongly (with her 2nd in the Australian Oaks), is very much in form and will be ridden by champion jockey Hugh Bowman. On form and figures, Winx looks hard to beat in the 2015 Queensland Oaks.
