Winners For Saturday Racing At Rosehill (20th Dec)

Sydney racing will be held at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine weather forecast for Sydney over the next couple of days, the meeting will be held on a Good surface at Rosehill on raceday.

Team Hayes & Dabernig have been having good strike rate with jockey Michael Walker and they can combine to win the opening race at Rosehill with Miss Idyllic (Sydney Race 1, 1100m). The Exceed And Excel filly is being set for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Walker has such a healthy respect for the filly that he has decided to give up a good book of ride in NZ and heads north to ride the filly. Miss Idyllic finished 2nd twice from her 3 career starts. From a good draw on Saturday (barrier 5), Walker will be able to settle the filly just behind the leader one off the fence and enjoy a good run in transit. Currently at $6.00 fixed odds, Miss Idyllic is at good value.

You’ll Never is the best of Waller’s three runners in the Drummond Golf Handicap (Sydney Race 3, 1400m). The 5YO has been racing consistently this preparation and he was only beaten by 1.5 lengths last start over this course & distance on a Soft 6 track. Back to firmer footing on Saturday will help. Shinn will once again drop the gelding towards the tail of the field and with reasonable pace in this race, You’ll Never will get his chance to run over the top of this field in the straight.

Under the set weight with penalties conditions, Resurrect has not been badly treated at all with only 58.5kg on a 54.5kg limit in the TAB.com.au Plate (Sydney Race 5, 1900m). The 5YO has won 3 races on the trot before a closing 4th last start when he lost ground around the turn. This lightly race gelding has won once and placed once from 2 starts over this trip. From barrier 7, Glyn Schofield will settle Resurrect mid-field and he looks the horse to beat at the weight.

Windjammer looks to have everything going for him in the Schweppes Handicap (Sydney Race 6, 1300m). The 4YO has drawn barrier 2 and he’ll receive a cushy run on the fence just behind the pace. Champion jockey Hugh Bowman will be aboard and Windjammer has been very much in-form finishing 2nd & 1st over this trip in his past two starts. And he is only carrying 3kg above the limit on 57kg. At the juicy odds of $9.50 fixed odds, Windjammer is certainly a value bet.
