Winners For Saturday’s Racing At Rosehill (23rd Apr)

The Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with showers forecast for Friday and Saturday, Rosehill could be racing on a Soft track on raceday.

The Godolphin-owned 3YO Reincarnate is the class horse in the opening event and should win the race accordingly (Sydney Race 1, 1200m). The gelding has been in top form winning all three starts this preparation. Reincarnate won his last start leading from start to finish over 1300m under 60kg when he blitzed the field by 3 lengths. Dropping back to 1200m will be no problem as he has never finished worse than 2nd at the trip. From barrier 4, James McDonald will drive Reincarnate forward and he’ll be hard to catch.

The in-form Bjorn Baker stable will be represented by top weight Mr Steal in the James Boag’s Premium Handicap (Sydney race 3, 2400m). This very consistent 5YO has won twice and placed 3 times in the last 6 starts. Apprentice Travis Wolfgram won well on the gelding in the Orange Cup last start and he’ll be back on board on Saturday. And with his 1.5kg claim, Mr Steal will be carrying 59.5kg. From the inside gate, Mr Steal will go forward and probably lead in front and he looks the one they have to catch.

The Waller-Bowman combination can take out the Schweppes Handicap with Chandana (Sydney Race 5, 1500m). Before his spell, the High Chaparral filly won well over 1800m at Randwick and she resumed with a creditable 5th from a wide barrier in Listed South Pacific Stakes. Stepping up to 1500m 2nd up will suit. Hugh Bowman will take over the rein on Saturday and from barrier 1, Chandana will take a more forward position in transit. Chandana will be right in the finish on Saturday.

Fresh from riding two Group 1 winners during The Championships, Sam Clipperton can continue his winning form on board Man Of Choice in the Bowerman’s Office Furniture Handicap (Sydney Race 7, 1500m).With his failure in the VRC Derby (2500m) last Spring and in the Tulloch Stakes (2000m) last start, Nowra trainer Luke Price has made the sensible decision to drop Man Of Choice back in distance. Prior to the Tulloch Stakes, this Manhattan Rain 3YO was only beaten a nose in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes at this track and trip. Currently at $8.50 in the fixed odds market, Man Of Choice is a good value bet.
