Baker Can’t Separate His 2 Tattersalls Tiara Runners

Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker is finding it hard to separate his two mares Egyptian Symbol and Bonny O’Reilly who will face off in Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1350m) at Doomben.

Both mares have drawn poorly and if all five emergencies fail to gain a start, Bonny O’Reilly will jump from barrier fourteen and Egyptian Symbol will come out of gate fifteen in the capacity sixteen horse field.

“There’s not a lot between them and both are very good mares heading in the right direction,” Baker told Racing Queensland News.

“Bonny O’Reilly has drawn slightly the better and you can’t knock her record.

“We were a touch negative with her last start but she’s the one to beat. Egyptian Symbol didn’t have a lot of luck in the Stradbroke and if she gets the right breaks she’s in with a big show.”

Both mares have had two lead up runs in Brisbane heading towards the Group 1 for the fillies and mares with Bonny O’Reilly collecting the major prize in the Listed $100,000 IPG Marketing Solutions Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on June 3 followed by a third to Tattersall’s Tiara rival Prompt Response in the Group 2 $200,000 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on June 10.

Egyptian Symbol went down narrowly when runner up to Eckstein in the Group 3 $150,000 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 27 and heads into the Tattersall’s Tiara on the back of a seventh to Impending in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 10.

Sydney based Kiwi jockey Jason Collett gets his chance to ride his first Group 1 winner with Bonny O’Reilly while Egyptian Symbol’s rider Tim Clark last visited the Group 1 winner’s stall when he rode the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Global Glamour to victory in the $500,000 Sydney Airport Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick during the 2016 Sydney Spring Carnival.

Bonny O’Reilly is the best fancied of Baker’s Tattersall’s Tiara pair and is marked $10 while Egyptian Symbol is listed as a $14 chance.

Stradbroke Handicap runner up In Her Time sits at the top of the market order at $3.10 ahead of Prompt Response at $6.50 and Eckstein at $9.50.
