Calabasas Bound For Royal Randwick On Saturday

Talented 3yr old Calabasas heads to Royal Randwick on Saturday where the colt takes on a class field of three year olds in the time honoured Dulcify Quality over the mile.

The flashy chestnut has been a model of consistency in each of his three starts, finishing second on each occasion as he steps out to the mile for the first time in good order pleasing all concerned in the lead up to Saturday’s assignment.

“I have been really happy with Calabasas. The colt has been racing well without luck in each of his three starts this time and I feel returning to a firmer racing surface along with the step up to the mile looks to be in Calabasas’s favour. He has been racing like the mile will suit him and I have no doubt from the good barrier that the colt should be able to gain a nice run in transit and will prove to be most competitive on Saturday,” added Kim (Waugh).

Brenton Avdulla has ridden Calabasas previously and knows the colt and has once again secured to ride aboard Calabasas in race 4 on the big nine card event at Randwick on Saturday.
