Chetwood To Bounce Back At Randwick

Free-rolling galloper Chetwood will be looking to bounce back in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Randwick after his disappointing showing at Caulfield.

The four-year-old was sent around one of the favourites in the Australia Stakes, which was won by Malaguerra with Black Hart Bart second, but never looked comfortable at Moonee Valley sitting outside of leader Sirbible.

“We just need to get him into a race where he can get some momentum and have a positive day out,” said John O’Shea of the $2.50 TAB favourite.

“He can control (Saturday’s) race from the front, which he likes.”

“He’s provided us with plenty of headaches this carnival but he did put in a lovely piece of work this (Wednesday) morning.”

Meanwhile, Godolphin will be represented in both of the two-year-old features with Savatiano lining up in the Group Two Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) and promising colt Coruscate taking his place in the Group Two Skyline Stakes (1200m).

“(Savatiano) should have won last start. She got too far back from a wide gate. With a bit of luck she can turn the tables this race,” said O’Shea.

“It was a good win first up and (Coruscate’s) improved since then. He maps nicely from a good gate.”

Coruscate will meet Menari who is on the third line of Golden Slipper betting at $11 behind only She Will Reign and Houtzen.
