Eleonora To Press Oaks Claims

Last-start Geelong winner Eleonora will press her claims for a start in November’s Gr.1 Victorian Oaks (2500m) when she tackles Sunday’s Gr.2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained Makfi filly will again have the services of leading Melbourne jockey Damien Oliver and has drawn favourably in barrier two.

“She’s taken a lot of benefit out of that win at Geelong. We’re hoping she can take the next step up again at Flemington,” Baker said.

Should she race to Baker’s satisfaction, the Lib Petagna and Dame Lowell Goddard-raced Eleonora is likely to progress to the Gr.3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield on October 15.
