Gai’s Legacy Continues To Grow

Meet Indiana – the eight-year-old niece of Queensland-based trainer Nicky Harrison.

Indiana will this week celebrate Children’s Book Week at her school, north of Toowoomba.

Book Week is all about celebrating books and reading, and schools often include dress up days where students and teachers come in costume as their favourite book character.

Champion trainer Gai Waterhouse may not be a character from a book, although she most certainly is a character.

Indiana is a massive fan of Gai, and rather than dress up as someone from Harry Potter or Frozen, she’s decided to go dressed as the first lady of racing.

“I really like Gai. She wears pretty hats and smiles a lot, which is nice,” Indiana told G1X.com.au.

You can’t argue with that logic.

Indiana’s costume choice is further evidence of the impact Gai has had, and will continue to have, on the sport.

The clothes for Indiana’s outfit are from her mum’s (Nat) wardrobe.

Well done, Indiana. You’ve made a great choice and I’m sure Gai would be chuffed.
