Kiwi Sprinter In Top Order

Exciting four-year-old Splurge has enjoyed a perfect build-up ahead of his Australian debut at Doomben on Saturday.

The winner of seven of his 11 starts, the son of Savabeel will again be ridden by Opie Bosson in the Gr.3 Taxibox BRC Sprint.

“Hopefully the rain that’s around will miss Doomben,” said Jamie Richards, who trains with Stephen Autridge. “His work on Tuesday was very good and we’re pleased with him.

“He’s in the best of form – he’s a really classy individual.”

Splurge claimed the Gr.3 Darley Plate in March and in one subsequent appearance he romped to victory at Te Rapa at the expense of the black type performers Passing Shot and Underthemoonlight.
