No Rush On Alligator Blood Call

Owner Allan Endresz says he’s in no rush to find a new trainer for Alligator Blood as he mulls a switch to Victoria or New South Wales.

Endresz announced on Sunday that trainer David Vandyke and he had parted company, with Group 1 winner Alligator Blood the highest profile horse of his team looking for a new home.

He said he had been inundated with interest since the decision had been made public, adding Alligator Blood would likely go to a trainer at Randwick or Flemington.

Alligator Blood will undergo an operation for kissing spine, which is likely to sideline him for four to six months. It means Endresz is in no rush to find a new trainer for his star.

“I’ve not got probably 14 trainers that want him. They’re Sydney, Melbourne based,” he said.

“Alligator is in for his surgery next week. The vets are giving us a good prognosis on that … so he should come back pretty good.

“We’re going to leave it for a few months and make a proper assessment. We are going to leave him down there (in Sydney or Melbourne) and give him the best opportunity we can to tackle the big races.

“The best opportunity will be somewhere within Flemington or Randwick. That will allow us to really settle him down and have a fair crack.”

Endresz said he was keen to see Alligator Blood compete in the 2021 Cox Plate.

“He will be turning five, so it should be perfect for him really,” he said.
