Sarah Moody Pay Her Way, And Some?

If there was a good way to pay a fine, winning a horse race to cover the cost would have to be it.

Moody, director at Moody Racing and wife of Peter, was handed a $1500 fine by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Tuesday.

About an hour later, Nurse Kitchen ($12) – owned outright by Moody – was a debut winner on the Geelong Synthetic track.

Subtracting jockey and trainer percentages from the $11,000 winners’ cheque left Moody with $9350 out of the race – plenty of change after the fine for which she has 14 days to pay.

Nurse Kitchen, a Savabeel filly, is trained by David Brideoake and was ridden by one of the Moody clan’s loyal hoops Daniel Stackhouse.

“Savabeels, they like a bit of ground,” Stackhouse said post-race.

“She travelled nice through the mid-race, she came off the bridle when they quickened down the hill.

“I gave her a tickle. She came back underneath me, and was waiting for a run.

“She was a bit green and new going for it, but she showed good acceleration.

“It was good to get one for the old boss!”

Stackhouse and Craig Newitt both finished the day with doubles.

Meanwhile, there was a breakthrough first winner for Hamilton trainer Brittany Raymond.

Rangry broke her maiden at her 11th start for Raymond’s milestone, however, the 27-year-old wasn’t trackside as she prepares for her upcoming nuptials in Fiji.
