Former West Australian trained filly Seannie will step out for the first time her new trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young in the Group 3 $150,000 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Seannie was also nominated for the Group 2 $200,000 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday but co-trainer Busuttin said that he would kick off the Sebring filly at Caulfield.
Busuttin and Young have also nominated Garrard for both races as well but will give the Sepoy filly another week’s work before kicking off her Spring Carnival campaign.
Seannie is the winner of two of her four race starts at Ascot in Perth and includes a win in the Listed $100,000 Supremacy Stakes (1000m) on March 4 and Busuttin said that the filly has impressed him in her lead up for her stable debut.
“We looked at her videos and I was very impressed with what I saw,” Busuttin said.
“She arguably should be unbeaten. But she’s a stakes-winning filly and looks to possess a good turn of foot.
“She’s had two jump-outs here at Cranbourne and impressed us.
“I get the feeling she’s probably a 1600 metre-plus filly. With her racing style the 1100 metres might be a bit sharp, but in saying that I don’t know.
Seannie didn’t have the best of luck at her latest two starts at Ascot in Perth when third in the Group 3 $150,000 Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) on March 18 followed by a sixth in the Group 2 $500,000 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) on April 1.
Top Melbourne jockey Dwayne Dunn has been booked to ride Seannie and Busuttin is looking forward to seeing her perform against some quality opposition in the Quezette Stakes.
The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have nominated five fillies for the Quezette Stakes with Tulip and Formality also entered for the Silver Shadow Stakes at Randwick.
Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy heads up the Lindsay Park Team’s entries for the Quezette along with the smart Madeenaty and Ploverset.
The brilliant Catchy was the winner of her first four starts which included victory in the Group 1 $1.5m Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 25 before failing to beat a runner home when sixteenth to She Will Reign on a heavy track in the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 18.
Madeenaty also ran in the Golden Slipper for a tenth placing and has had one run back for a second to Crown Witness in a 1000m three year old fillies Handicap at Flemington on August.
Trainer Stuart Webb has also nominated Crown Witness for the Quezette while Darren Weir has his promising filly Limestone entered.
