Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Apollo Stakes Day (Sat, 16th Feb)

From Kris Lees

Horse: Our Gravano
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 3, Huran Report Cup) It’s not ideal going from 1900m (winning at Canterbury last Friday night) to 2400m, but there wasn’t another suitable race. Our Gravano got the soft conditions to suit at Canterbury and won’t get that (on Saturday), but has won up to 2100m.

Horse: Karavali
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 4, Lunar New Year Hcp) She will derive benefit from the outing on Saturday in the Benchmark 88 Handicap (1300m).

Horse: El Dorado Dreaming
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 7, Light Fingers Stakes) El Dorado Dreaming is coming up really well, and she is a Group 1 winner (Sires Produce Stakes). Whilst 1200m is short of her best, she is definitely capable of being competitive.

Horse: Miss Fabulass
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 7, Light Fingers Stakes) Delighted with her lead-up preparation. Miss Fabulass is going terrific and she will run really well. Would have preferred her to have drawn closer to the fence (she has drawn barrier 8) so that she gets cover and settles. If she doesn’t get cover, she has shown previously that she can over-race.

Horse: Invincible Gem
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 8, Triscay Stakes) Invincible Gem has had the two trials and is resuming in the right type of race. Invincible Gem is proven 1st up and also races really well at Randwick. She ran 3rd first-up to Happy Clapper in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) there around this time last year.

Horse: Princess Posh
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 8, Triscay Stakes) Princess Posh won the Newcastle heat of the Provincial Championships nearly 12 months ago, but is not as forward this time.

From Mark Newnham

Horse: Lanciato
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 5, Southern Cross Stakes) it’s as winnable a race as he’s been in 1st up. He’s probably in as good a shape as I’ve had him first-up. Generally he goes into his first-up runs not quite there. On Saturday, he’s on a suitable track and suitable grade, as with his racing style he needs a bit of luck. He’s down a level and he’s going to get good ground. There’s enough runners there to create some pressure and if he’s within three or four lengths of them he has the sprint to pick them up.

Horse: Greysful Glamour
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 7, Light Fingers Stakes) Greysful Glamour is returning after a close second in the Victorian Oaks. Newnham said he isn’t expecting too much from her until she reaches at least 1600m.

Horse: Nakeeta Jane
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 7, Light Fingers Stakes) Wouldn’t be surprised to see Nakeeta Jane sprint very well fresh after impressing in her two trials. She has a bit more race sense now, a bit mentally stronger. Even though they will be a bit sharp for her over 1200m she is a high class filly so the stable would expect her to run well.
