Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing (Sat, 14th Sept)

From Bjorn Baker

Horse: Shock Alert
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 2, Everest Carnival Hcp) I think he is genuinely better on top of the ground, Nash (Rawiller) goes on and he will be able to put himself forward without too much pressure.

Horse: Irukandji
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Hyland Race Colours Hcp) We didn’t really know about the wet track with Irukandji last time but he was always going to be vulnerable at 1500m on a wet track. We will try to get cover and if he can relax early he should be able to finish off.

Horse: Oneness
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Hyland Race Colours Hcp) Hopefully Oneness can get a nice run just off the speed, he’s going well in what looks an open race.

Horse: Edison
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, Dulcify Stakes) I thought he would have been right in the finish last time, he was very unlucky, had he got clear running. It’s a good renewal of the Dulcify but he’s third-up, gets a good track and you have to give him a good each-way chance.

Horse: Redouble
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 7, Theo Marks Stakes) Redouble has been thrown in the deep end somewhat in the Theo Marks Stakes. I think he is a bit under rated, last time first-up he was only just beaten by Trekking. It’s a very hard race, there’s no doubting that, but he couldn’t be any better.

Horse: Champagne Cuddles
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 8, Sheraco Stakes) I think she will be in for her best preparation. If Champagne Cuddles can win the Sheraco Stakes on Saturday,  she’ll have her next run in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) two weeks out from The Everest (should she gain a spot in the $14 million race). She has a good gate (2) and she has come back really well. I think the key is to put her where she is comfortable, whether she is just off them or midfield I think she can get into a good spot.

From Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott

Horse: Just Thinkin’
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, Dulcify Stakes) He is a three-quarter brother to Thinkin’ Big, a Group One placegetter and a two-time Group Three winner for the stable last season. I know Just Thinkin’ is only coming through a maiden class win but I think there is a lot more from him to offer on Saturday. He is going up in trip which is ideal for him. We certainly haven’t seen the best from him yet by any means.

Horse: Dawn Passage
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Run To The Rose) We opted to bypass a couple of races we had him pencilled in for like the Up And Coming (Stakes) and San Domenico just in favour of keeping him on the fresh side. We wanted to go into the race with fresh legs and still have a horse to go through to the Golden Rose and potentially after that race as well. Obviously he’s got to take that next step up to that class but he’s hardly put a foot wrong to date.

From James Cummings

Horse: Subedar
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 5, Dulcify Stakes) He probably didn’t handle the heavy track last start. But he was beaten five lengths in a Group Three and they didn’t break 36.5 for the last 600 metres. Nevertheless, he’s a talented, improving horse.

Horse: Bivouac
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Run To The Rose) After a sizzling 1st up victory in Melbourne he appeared to be clearly outpointed by a very smart colt at Rosehill (San Domenico Stakes). Getting back on top of the ground could be the difference for our horse.
