Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing (Sat, 23rd May)

From Jason Coyle

Horse: St Covet’s Spirit
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 9, Sky Racing Active Hcp) I would have liked to gain a start in that Dark Jewel last week (but she did not make the field). I think it was a nice race for her, two weeks between runs over 1400 (metres). This is obviously Plan B going the extra week between runs and back to the 1200. It’s not always great to go back to your Plan B but she looks quite well placed in the race.

Horse: Bold And Wild
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 6, [email protected] Australia Hcp) Bold And Wild is a nice horse and very promising and it’s hard to fault his form. The gelding has won his past three starts, including one on a soft 6, He’s a naturally fit horse and out of an Oaks winner (Once Were Wild) and he’s a light athletic type of horse. He’s the sort of horse that could really get through the ground well.

Horse: Miss Einstein
Message: (Saturday, , Randwick Race 6, [email protected] Australia Hcp) Funnily enough last time she mapped exactly the same, two good races without winning then third-up she was very good. So it’s a similar situation. I’ve always had a good opinion of her so I’m hoping she can deliver. She’s the lightest of athletic fillies so I always expected (a wet track) would be a good thing for her. I think she is going well, if anything the 1500m will suit on a wet track

Horse: Redouble
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 8, Octagonal Hcp) Redouble doesn’t have an attractive second-up record, and he has 60kg to carry, but the stable expects him to put his best foot forward. His first-up run was really good, he’s been a great horse for the stable and I think he looks as good as he ever has too. We’re pretty thrilled with him, I think he is going well.

From John Sargent

Horse: Foxborough
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 3, Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Hcp) Last start, the filly won the Wagga Guineas by 5 lengths on a Heavy track. On that last run, she showed she went through the line in the wet, the 2000m shouldn’t be a problem now. She ran a good race (last time at 2000m), she ran fifth in the Wakeful (last Spring) and didn’t stay in the Oaks, and she’s stronger now. Wagga was the wettest track she’s been on and she handled it, we’re going to get a bit of rain and that will suit her. Brenton (Avdulla) has ridden her before, he was unlucky at Warwick Farm on her, and it looks a nice race for her.

Horse: Come Along
Message: (Saturday, Randwick Race 6, [email protected] Australia Hcp) He likes the wet and he’s in form. He’s back to 1500m but it’s a hard 1500m at Randwick so that should suit him. He’s got a soft gate (1) and it worked out last start having him up there and we’ll probably be a bit handy again. He’s quite a quirky horse, he needs a lot of pace on then he relaxes.
