Summary Of Our Trainers’ Tips For Today’s Racing (Sat, 9th Nov)

From John O’Shea

Horse: Sidearm
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Golden Gift) The colt is a much better chaser than leader and only wound up in front in the 905m hitout because he jumped well. A fast run 1100m at Rosehill, he looks to map well, he’ll be much more effective having had the trial and a bunny to chase. He has a pedigree that says he will get much better as he gets older. He has a great attitude and that’s allowed him to get to the races in his first prep.

Horse: Pretty In Pink
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 7, Hot Danish Stakes) The 4YO was declared a non-runner in The Nivison on October 26. I thought the other day was her race and it didn’t pan out in the early stages any good for her. Hopefully she gets out of the gates clean and ends up in the right spot and if she does that she gives herself every chance to win. To my eye she’s still a query beyond six furlongs but she’s very fit and looks to map well, her coat has come right so there’s all positive signs. She will wear blinkers again at Rosehill and the plan will be to go forward out of the gates and have her in a striking position.

Horse: Bergen
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 9, Eden Brae Homes Hcp) Bergen missed a place for the first time in his six starts when he finished sixth behind Romani Girl at Randwick two weeks ago but there’s a case to forgive him. It was more the tempo of the race. The race inverted, they went a bit too quick and it changed complexion. Later in the day it wasn’t an advantage to be on the rail so I thought he did a good job. He looks to map well (on Saturday) in the first three or four, he’s 3rd up having had the seasoning run at 1500m. His form is good, his work is good and he’s a happy horse.

From Ethan Ensby

Horse: Partnership
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 3, Iron Jack Hcp) The 4YO gelding has triumphed in his past three starts. He was a source of frustration this spring until the addition of blinkers in a training gallop. He’s been a bit of a nightmare. He’s the sort of horse that, once he gets back, he can lose interest very quickly. But he’s pulled up well from all his runs. He’s looking good. He’s only a light horse. So to travel him down (to Sydney)  is a little bit of a concern but we’ve made sure he’s got everything.

From Bjorn Baker

Horse: Sophiella
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 1, Shopper Media Hcp) She gets in with no weight and a good gate, we’ll be positive and try and lead. There’s no easy races on Saturdays but she’s an each-way chance.

Horse: Foreign Territory
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Ranvet Hcp) I think up to 1800m suits and the weight relief will be good for him. We’ll roll forward and look to be more positive than we’ve been with him and we can’t fault how he looks.

Horse: Baanone
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 4, Ranvet Hcp) He’s a bit older and more mature now, I think that’s helped him. I think the form around him has stacked up, it’s a matter of getting him in his comfort zone and we are half way there.

Horse: Malkovich
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Golden Gift) Malkovich showed speed to lead that trial at Rosehill and quickly put six lengths on his rivals over 905m. I didn’t really know what to expect in the trial, it was a matter of trialling him and trying to get the right trial for this Saturday. We’re going in a little bit blind but from what I’ve seen, he’s really been an impressive horse. He has a very relaxed attitude, he’s handled everything pretty well. Off his trial and what he’s shown us, we’ve been really happy with him.

Horse: Echo Jet
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 8, Schweppes Hcp) He looks good and on his best form he is a chance. His trials have been pleasing so we know he’s good enough.

Horse: Tony’s Reward
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 8, Schweppes Hcp) He’s never looked better and has been racing very well, I can’t fault him.

From Jean Dubois

Horse: See You Soon
Message: (Saturday, Rosehill Race 6, Golden Gift) Her debut win was a pleasant surprise. We knew that she could be good, maybe not that good. She pulled up well, she galloped easy on Tuesday morning and I’m happy. On Saturday it will be a different story, it’ll be a large field and the draw is important (and she has drawn barrier 16).
