Updated Apprentice Jockey Wage notice with the effective date of 10 November 2014
It is the outcome of the hearings before the Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission, who concluded the matter on 10 November 2014 and made the decisions to:
In short:
–              insert a wage rate for Apprentice Jockeys into the Horse and Greyhound Training Award
–              confirmed conditions in the Award apply to apprentice jockeys eg extra raceday allowance if strapping on raceday (in addition to riding)etc
–              clarified that the three divisions – Without Year 12, With Year 12, Adult (after 1 Jan 2014) apply
It means the same minimum wage now applies nationally across states.
It includes an instruction that in taking into account the various changes, no current apprentice can receive less than their current pay.
