Darley stallions Sepoy and Helmet have their foals on the ground.
A Sepoy filly from Morphettville Guineas winner Becerra arrived at Edinburgh Park Stud in northern NSW. “She is a big, strong leggy foal,” studmaster Ian Smith said. “She and the mare are both doing well.”
A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed, Sepoy won the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes and G1 Golden Slipper and returned the following season for further G1 victories in the Manikato Stakes and Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Sepoy (Elusive Quality x Watchful, by Danehill) is just back for his second Australian season after shuttling to Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket earlier this year.
Helmet’s first foal – a colt from winning More Than Ready mare In Expectation – was born at Woodside Park in Victoria on Saturday. “He’s a lovely, strong colt with an attractive head and a powerful hindquarter,” Woodside manager Murray Tillett said. “We couldn’t be happier.”
Helmet won both the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes at two before returning at three to land the G1 Caulfield Guineas.
Helmet (Exceed And Excel x Accessories, by Singspiel) shuttled to Darley’s Irish base at Kildangan Stud and will serve his second southern book at Northwood Park in Victoria.
