Son of Exceed And Excel Storms To Victory In Caulfield Sprint

Exciting young galloper Oxley Road showed the speed of super sire Exceed And Excel in a brilliant performance to win the G2 Caulfield Sprint over 1,000m on Saturday, 16 October – at the same time stamping his future credentials in the breeding barn.

A four-year-old son of “the world’s best sire of juveniles”, Oxley Road raced in third position to the home bend before accelerating past Malkovich and Curran to notch his third win (plus two placings) from just six starts for Melbourne trainer Peter Moody.

Jockey Blaike McDougall said the chestnut stallion wanted to stargaze in the closing stages and predicted even better wins ahead.

Oxley Road, out of now-deceased New Zealand mare Bonnie Mac, is a brother to G1 Coolmore Stakes winner Exceedance.

Exceed And Excel, who finished the 2021 Inglis Easter Sale as the leading sire on average at $733,000 and is the sire of 190 Stakes winner stands at Kelvinside at a service fee of A$132,000, including GST.
