Winners For 2021 Golden Rose Day

The Golden Rose meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (25th Sept). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with mainly fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

The promising colt Paulele took out the Listed Rosebud when first-up on 7th August before beaten a head in the San Domenico Stakes and he can return to the winner’s stall in the Heritage Stakes (Sydney Race 5, 1100m). This Godolphin-owned 3YO is a winner having won four times from seven career starts and he has a good record at 1100m with two victories and a 2nd from four attempts at the trip. James Cummings has a high opinion for Paulele and he could really shine for the spring. Drawn out in barrier 10 but with pretty good pace in the race, James McDonald should be able to slot in just behind the pace and Paulele will be ready to pounce rounding the home turn.

Fituese maps very well in the Golden Pendant (Sydney Race 7, Golden Pendant). The likely leader Vangelic will go straight to the front from the inside gate and set a pretty good pace with Fituese settling one off one back from barrier 4. The way the mare finishing off in the Sheraco Stakes last start certainly looks as though she is looking for further and stepping up to 1400m on Saturday should suit. Champion hoop Hugh Bowman will take over the rein and that’s a bonus. Fituese is all set to turn the table on her last start conqueror Entriviere.

The Godolphin-owned Anamoe resumed with victory in the Run To The Rose a fortnight ago and he looks the winner in the Group 1 Golden Rose (Sydney Race 8, 1400m). The Sires’ Produce Stakes winner did a great job in his first preparation finishing 3rd and 2nd in the Blue Diamond and the Golden Slipper respectively, culminating to his victory in the Group 1 Sires’. The colt has come back a more furnish horse and though he was having a setback, Anamoe was still good enough to win Run To The Rose comfortably. In The Congo will ensure the pace will be more than reasonable and will allow James McDonald to settle somewhere mid-field with a cushy run. Anamoe will finish strongly down the Rosehill straight and he is the one they all have to beat.
