Winners For 2021 Gosford Stand-Alone Day

The Gosford stand-alone meeting will be held this Saturday (8th May). The course proper was rated a Soft 6 on Thursday and with further shower over the next couple of days, Gosford is likely to border on Soft/Heavy condition on raceday.

The John O’Shea-trained Blesk seems to be the one to beat in the Hoolihan Partners Consulting Engineers BM72Handicap (Gosford Race 4, 1600m). The 4YO gelding has been racing consistently winning once (over 1600m two starts back) and placing twice in his last four starts. Blesk has a good record on Soft tracks with two wins and a 2nd from four attempts. He’s rock hard fit being 5th up on Saturday and he is going to run out a strong mile in the wet. Tommy Berry sticks with the horse which is a good sign. Berry will ride the horse cold and Blesk will run over the top of this field in the straight.

Easy Eddie finally has conditions to suit in the Takeover Target Handicap (Gosford Race 6, 1200m). The gelding hasn’t been far away on firm tracks in Group company since he finished midfield in the Group 1 Galaxy in March. With an impressive record of four wins and two placings from nine starts on Soft and Heavy tracks, he’s been looking for a wet track and has finally found one on Saturday. Down in class on Saturday and 1200m is perfect. Joshua Parr is going to the lead to control the pace and Easy Eddie could prove hard to catch.

Team Waterhouse-trained Entente could return to the winner’s circle in the Gosford Gold Cup (Gosford Race 7, 2100m). This Dundeel 4YO has been a good money spinner with five wins and five placings from sixteen career starts. And the gelding has kept up with his strike rate this campaign winning the Albury Cup (2000m) with a further two placings. Entente can handle any track conditions and the 2100m would not be a concern. Beautifully drawn in barrier 2, Tim Clark will box seat on the fence with a cosy run and Entente will give punters a good sight at the finish.
