Winners For 2021 Tancred Stakes Day

The Tancred Stakes meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill will be racing on a Good track on raceday.

The Waller-trained Shared Ambition looks a top chance in the Neville Sellwood Stakes (Sydney Race 2, 2000m). The 5YO gelding has come back in great order this campaign winning over the Randwick mile first-up on 6th Feb. He then finished a great 2nd in the weight-for-age Peter Young Stakes before beaten only 2.4 lengths by Homesman in the Group 1 Australian Cup. Down in class on Saturday and Shared Ambition has a good record over 2000m. James McDonald will settle in the second half of the field and Shared Ambition is going to be too strong in the run home.

Top weight Krone is the class horse in the Emancipation Stakes and she looks set to continue her winning streak (Sydney Race 4, 1500m). This Tony Gollan-trained mare has won her last three races starting from the Gold Coast Magic Millions for fillies and mares. Then she came down to Sydney and took out the Guy Walter Stakes before her last start Group 1 victory in the Coolmore Classic over Saturday’s track & trip. The 5YO isn’t harshly treated as she has only been allotted 58kg on a 54kg limit. Tom Clark will settle behind mid-field from barrier 2 and Krone will fly down the outside and over-powered this field.

The likely leader in the Tancred Stakes, Angel Of Truth, can simply run away with the Group 1 race (Sydney Race 7, 2400m). This former ATC Derby winner has been very competitive in the Group 1 races he contested so far this campaign. The 5YO was very impressive in the Ranvet Stakes last start finishing 3rd behind the two best horses currently racing in Australia, Verry Elleegant and Addeybb, and that’s good form. Stepping up to 2400m 5th up seems perfect. From gate 5, Kerrin McEvoy will go straight to the lead and Angel Of Truth could prove hard to catch.
