Winners For 2022 The Rosebud Day

The Rosebud meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday (13th Aug). The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with light showers forecast for Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill is likely to border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.

The Scott Singleton-trained Russley Crown looks the testing material in the Highway Handcap (Sydney Race 1, 1300m). The 4YO gelding ran well finishing 2nd two starts back in a class 1 race over 1300m before taking out a BM58 handicap at Scone. Russley Crown handles any track conditions and has a good record over 1300m with two wins and a 2nd from three starts. Reece Jones will claim 1.5kg (will carry 55kg) and from a wide gate, Jones will go forward and sit one off one back. Russley Crown is the one they have to beat.

Titanium Power is a terrific light weight chance to take out the Bankstown Sports Handicap (Sydney Race 6, 1400m). The Joseph Pride-trained gelding has a terrific record over 1400m as he has never missed a place from five attempts at the trip. The 5YO can handle any track conditions and he has only been allotted with the limit weight of 52kg. Jay Ford will go straight to the lead and together with his light weight, Titanium Power is going to be hard to catch.

Godolphin-owned colt Spacewalk has come back bigger, stronger and more mature as a 3YO and he’s the one to watch in The Rosebud (Sydney Race 8, 1100m). Spacewalk has been mixing with the best two-year-olds in the autumn running placings in Lonhro Plate and Kindergarten Stakes. He has two pretty good trials and he is ready to go fitness wise. Champion hoop James McDonald will take over the rein on Saturday and from the nice gate (2), McDonald will settle just behind the leaders and Spacewalk is going to fly over the top of this field.
