This Saturday’s Bookmakers Recognition Day meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens (29th Apr). The course proper was rated a Soft 5 on Thursday and with showers forecast on Saturday, Rosehill will remain in the Soft range on raceday.
Dipsy Doodle could give punters a winning start in the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1100m). The Lonhro filly got the cash last start at Warwick Farm over this trip on a Soft 7 track. She will strip fitter when third-up on Saturday and Dylan Gibbons’ 1.5kg claim will bring the 2YO’s weight down to only 54.5kg. Gibbons will go forward to the lead and Dipsy Doodle could prove hard to catch.
Top weight Bianco Vilano is the highest rated horse in the Highway Handicap and he should run accordingly (Sydney Race 2, 1400m). The 4YO gelding took out the Country Championships Qualifier at Albury before flying home to finish a good 4th in the final. Interestingly Ron Stubbs has decided not to claim but instead engaging champion hoop James McDonald on the 4YO. Drawn beautifully in barrier 3, McDonald will settle behind the leading bunch on the fence and Bianco Vilano will showcase his class in the run home.
Democracy Manifest is a dual acceptor and Chris Waller has pull the right rein in starting in the Kerrie Borger Handicap with a lower weight (in a higher BM handicap)(Sydney Race 9, 1400m). The Waller-trained 4YO won brilliantly first-up a fortnight ago under the riding of Joao Moreira and the hoop retains the ride on Saturday. This gelding handles any track conditions and stepping up to 1400m should suit. Moreira will settle just behind mid-field and Democracy Manifest will run over the top of this field.
