The City Tattersalls Club Cup meeting will be run at Royal Randwick this Saturday (2nd Sept). The course proper was rated a Soft 6 on Thursday and with overcast weather in Sydney over the next couple of days, Randwick will be racing on a Soft track on raceday.
The Waterhouse-Bott trained Military Mission looks the one to beat in the City Tattersalls Club Cup (Sydney Race 5, 2400m). The 6YO gelding is a handy stayer having won the Group 3 Hobart Cup over one and a half miles earlier this year. He has come back well this preparation with a good 2nd behind Hosier last start over 2000m. Ready to step up to 2400m third-up and he can handle any track conditions. Rachel King knows the horse well and she will sit one off one back in the coveted spot. Military Mission is the one they all have to catch.
The Concorde Stakes is a hot race and the ever-improving mare In Secret could be the one to watch out (Sydney Race 7, 1000m). This Godolphin-owned 4YO took out the Newmarket Handicap in the autumn and James Cummings has given her two nice trials in preparation for her return. In Secret has good fresh form winning twice with a 2nd from three first-up runs and she has as good a record on Soft tracks. In a very fast run race, In Secret will settle somewhere mid-field and she will run over the top of Eduardo and Nature Strip.
Good mare Hinged has come back in terrific order this campaign and she is primed to take out the Chelmsford Stakes (Sydney Race 8, 1600m). First-up, the 5YO mare finished a close 4th, beaten only a length by Fangirl in the Group 1 Winx Stakes. Hinged can handle any conditions and she has great second-up record with three wins and a 3rd from five attempts. Stepping up to the mile should suit. Kerrin McEvoy will settle just behind the leading bunch and Hinged will fly down the Randwick straight.
