The Everest meeting will be held at Royal Randwick this Saturday (14th Oct). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with fine weather in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Randwick will be racing on a Good track on raceday.
Far Too Easy could win The Kosciuszko for Murwillumbah trainer David McColm (Sydney Race 5, 1200m). The 5YO flew home to be just beaten in the Ramornie Handicap before his spell and McColm has given the horse two trials in preparation for The Kosciuszko in which the gelding won both convincingly. Far Too Easy has a terrific first-up record winning three times from four attempts and the 13 week break should suit him. Regular jockey James Orman knows the horse really well and he will once again be on board. With a fair pace up front, Orman will drop back in the field and Far Too Easy will have a last crack at them.
Private Eye is primed to peak in The Everest and he could well be the horse to beat (Sydney Race 7, 1200m). The Joseph Pride-trained 6YO has come back in great order this campaign having beaten fellow The Everest runners Overpass and Buenos Noches in The Shorts first-up four weeks ago. Stepping up to 1200m will suit even better and he likes Randwick having won three times with further three placings at the venue. Pride has given the horse an 850m a week ago where the gelding finished 2nd. Nash Rawiller has been in good form and he will park just behind the leading bunch in a stalking position. Private Eye will be ready to pounce rounding the home turn.
Mr Brightside is the best miler in the country and he looks set to make it four wins on the trot by taking out the King Charles III Stakes (Sydney Race 9, 1600m). The 6YO gelding had completed the All-Star Mile and the Doncaster Mile double in the autumn and he won the PB Lawrence Stakes first-up before also taking out the Group 1s Memsie Stakes and Makybe Diva Stakes. The mile is his pet distance winning ten races from fourteen starts and he is unbeaten at Randwick winning two from two. Craig Williams will settle just behind the leaders and Mr Brightside will be over-powering this field down the Randwick straight.
