Winners For This Saturday’s Sydney Meeting (7th Dec)

This Saturday’s Sydney meeting will be held at Rosehill Gardens (7th Nov). The course proper was rated a Good 4 on Thursday and with light showers in Sydney leading up to the weekend, Rosehill could border on Good/Soft condition on raceday.

The unbeaten Private Harry could make it three wins on the trot by taking out the opening event at Rosehill (Sydney Race 1, 1200m). This Nathan Doyle-trained 3YO won easily on debut at Newcastle on Nov 2 before he absolutely annihilated the field by 7 lengths over 1100m at Hawkesbury, which shows the colt is well above average. He handles any track condition and stepping up to 1200m third-up is a natural progression. Ashley Morgan knows the horse well and he retains the ride. Morgan will box seat in transit and Private Harry will be too strong in the run home.

The in-form Donna Scott stable has Villasaurus primed to win the Highway Handicap (Sydney Race 3, 1500m). This 4YO is only lightly raced but has good strike rate with three wins and three placings from eight career starts. The gelding took out a class 3 Highway Handicap (1400m) first-up by more than 3 lengths five weeks ago and he has good second-up form. Stepping up to 1500m suits and Tyler Schiller retains the ride. Schiller will go forward and sit one off one back and Villasaurus will be ready to pounce rounding the home turn.

The Godolphin-owned Drift Net is the one to watch in the Captivant@Kia Ora handicap (Sydney Race 7, 1300m). This 4YO mare has been very consistent having only missed a top three finish twice in thirteen career starts. She handles any track condition and 1300m is her pet distance with two wins and three 2nds from five attempts at the trip. Beautifully drawn in barrier 4, Tommy Berry will go forward and share the lead with Infatuation and Drift Net could prove hard to catch.
