Gallant Mornington Cup winner, Instrumentalist, may not be heading to the spelling paddock just yet.
Following his win on Wednesday, which guarantees him a ballot-free spot in this year’s $3 million Caulfield Cup (2400m) in October, it was announced he would be going straight to the paddock.
Trainer, Chris Waller said the spelling paddock was an option, so too was continuing the horse’s preparation by heading to Adelaide for the Adelaide Cup.
“He will either go to the paddock or we’ll go to Adelaide with him,” Waller said.
The $400,000 Adelaide Cup (3200m) will be run at Morphettville racecourse on Monday, March 10, which is only three and a half weeks away.
“He was strong and brave and it was a good result for everyone involved,” Waller added.
In what became a really tough staying test, the Mornington Cup proved Intrumentalist can stay, thus the Adelaide Cup appears an attractive option.
