Atlantic Jewel will start at Black Caviar odds in Saturday’s Stock Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Corporate bookmaking firms posted Atlantic Jewel at $1.07 for the Group 2 1600m race, which drew just seven other horses.
Mark Kavanagh decided to bring Atlantic Jewel back to fillies & mares class after she romped away with the Group 1 Memsie Stakes on August 31, her first run since a long layoff.
Kavanagh said he was concerned that the champion mare could be hit by second up syndrome after a 70 week break. Hence he has chosen the easier option rather than the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, the other 1600m weight-for-age race on the Valley program
Black Caviar started at odds of $1.10 or shorter in 10 or last start 12 starts.
Atlantic Jewel will be aiming to stretch her unbeaten record to nine in the Stock Stakes.
