Berry To Ride Chautauqua In Hong Kong

Tommy Berry has landed the plum ride on Chautauqua for the Chairman’s Sprint Prize in Hong Kong.

Hawkes Racing announced the decision via Twitter on Thursday morning, giving Berry the nod over Dwayne Dunn.

The normal arrangement for the stable has been to use Berry when Chautauqua races in Sydney and Dunn when he is in Melbourne, but it had to choose with both hoops able to ride in the neutral territory of Hong Kong.

Berry partnered Chautauqua to his stunning last-start victory in the Group 1 TJ Smith at Randwick, taking his record to three wins (all at Group 1 level) and a third in four rides on the champion grey sprinter.

Chautauqua arrived safely in Hong Kong earlier this week where he’ll take on some of the best local sprinters as well as his old rival.
