Best Solution Wins Caulfield Cup

Godolphin has triumphed in the Caulfield Cup with Best Solution giving trainer Saeed bin Suroor his second victory in the race after a thrilling finish to the $5 million event.

Best Solution, who was coming off back-to-back Group 1 wins in Germany, overcame a poor start and an extremely wide run to the first turn to nose out the Lloyd Williams-owned Homesman, with another of Williams’ runners, The Cliffsofmoher, in third place.

The victory by Best Solution, who carried top weight of 57.5kg, made it back-to-back Group 1 wins for bin Suroor and jockey Pat Cosgrave, who last week took the Caulfield Stakes in spectacular fashion aboard Benbatl.

Bin Suroor won the 2008 Caulfield Cup with All The Good.
