Glen Boss will wait until after Monday’s release of weights for the Stradbroke Handicap before deciding his ride in the $1.36 million Group 1.
Boss is tossing up between Group 1 winner Rebel Dane and lightly raced but emerging filly Srikandi.
The champion jockey rode both horses on Saturday at Doomben.
Rebel Dane finished fourth, beaten three-quarters of a length, in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 while Srikandi made it five wins in succession with her victory in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes.
Ciaron Maher said connections would pay a late-entry fee for Srikandi, a winner of six of her seven starts, to start in the Stradbroke.
Queensland Racing handicapper Nathan Bourke said Srikandi says currently hovering around 24th or 25th in the order of entry into the Stradbroke, but already a number of horses above her are unlikely to start.
Boss’s manager, Reece Murphy, said the jockey just wanted to assess the weight situation as well as giving both horses another day to come through their respective runs before committing to a Stradbroke ride.
Srikandi, who is expected to receive the minimum of 50.5kg in the Stradbroke, is $4.80 favourite with Rebel Dane at $7.
First acceptances for the Stradbroke, J.J. Atkins and Queensland Derby will be taken Monday at 9am.
