Champion jockey Jim Cassidy has been locked in to ride multiple Group 1 winner Shoot Out this campaign.
Cassidy makes his return to Sydney racing at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday and is chasing his 100th Group 1 winner this spring after chalking up 98 with Hawkspur’s win in the Queensland Derby.
Hugh Bowman has exclusively ridden Shoot Out since he joined Chris Waller’s stable from John Wallace, including every barrier trial, but the leading rider has now been replaced by Cassidy.
‘Pumper’ rode Shoot Out in a recent trial at Rosehill Gardens and will again put him through his paces in another trial at Rosehill on Monday.
Shoot Out is due to kick-off his spring campaign in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on August 24.
Cassidy enjoyed a strong association with the Waller stable during the autumn carnival, netting feature wins aboard Foreteller, Hawkspur and Zoustar.
