Eurozone was heavily backed at his last start when he raced on-pace for a battling fourth in the Group 1 $500,000 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on March 1.
Racing Victoria stewards reported after the race the horse was “slightly lame”, but Cummings says the horse has returned to Sydney in perfect shape.
“He looks in terrific order,” Cummings said this week.
“Physically I think he’ll parade a lot better.
“He’s one from one at Randwick and that’s comforting,” Cummings, who trains alongside his legendary grand-father Bart, said.
“Hopefully back at Randwick he can step-up,” Cummings said, referring to Eurozone’s engagement in the Group 1 $600,000 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) on Saturday.
A noted poor track worker, Eurozone was up to his old tricks at the track at Royal Randwick this week.
“He worked a little indifferently to be fair,” Cummings said of his work on Tuesday morning.
In latest fixed-odds markets Eurozone is marked an $8.00 chance on the third line of betting behind Kiwi raiders El Roca ($3.80) and Atlante ($6.50).
