Dissident Ready For Next Stoush

Peter Moody is unfazed by the prospect of heavy ground for Saturday’s Rosehill Guineas meeting.

Moody said one of the beauties about Dissident, the pre-post favorite for the $500,000 Rosehill Guineas, is that the colt always gives his best regardless of the circumstances.

“He never runs a bad race whether it is wet or dry,” marveled Moody.

“Every time I put a saddle on him I know he is a chance of winning.”

Dissident won the Hobartville Stakes on a Slow 7 than won the Group 1 Randwick Guineas fighting off New Zealander El Roca.

Moody said it is the way Dissident engaged in the fight with El Roca that encouraged him the colt would run out the 2000 metres.

“This is the furthest he’s been, but when El Roca looked like he was going to go past him, my bloke was in for the fight,” Moody said.

“He fought back strongly and was going away from the other horse on the line.

“He never gets a wrap for what he does, but I wouldn’t swap him.”

Moody said Dissident’s barrier seven draw presented plenty of options for Jim Cassidy as he searches for another Group 1 win.

He said he could see Dissident take a trail behind Shamus Award or if need be he could roll to the front as he did in the Randwick Guineas.

Moody said he had a healthy respect also for New Zealand Derby winner Puccini.
