Caulfield trainer Andrew Noblet’s has just one fear heading into Saturday’s Group 1 $500,000 Goodwood Handicap (1200m) with Sistine Demon.
His extra-ordinary galloper goes into the Group 1 having won seven of his past eight starts and is arguably the most improved galloper in the country.
Noblet says the only question mark he has about the horse tackling the Goodwood is the fact the horse has to come back in distance from 1400-metres to 1200-metres.
“If there is one question mark it is the step back in distance,” Noblet told Racing Network.
“I’d like it to be 1400-metres but the horse is super and he has freshened-up very well since his win at Caulfield,” he said.
Sistine Demon started his amazing run with a win at Donald in a 0-64 last November.
His only defeat in seven subsequent runs has been a close and brave second behind Sweet As Bro in the Kilmore Cup on February 23.
All fixed-odds markets have Sistine Demon the Goodwood Handicap favourite, and Noblet confirmed apprentice Jamie Kah would retain the ride.
“She’s ridden him twice for a combined nine-length winning margin, so she’ll stay on,” he said.
Noblet said Sistine Demon would gallop (Tuesday) morning and float to Adelaide on Thursday in preparation for his first attack on a Group 1.
