While Earthquake’s status in the Blue Diamond market is under scrutiny from some punters after her trial last week, the filly continues to please Peter and Paul Snowden.
Paul Snowden said Earthquake, second favorite for the $1 million Blue Diamond, had progressed well since her nose second behind More Radiant in a Cranbourne trial last Thursday.
Snowden said there was no concern about Earthquake’s trial.
“We didn’t want her to have a gut buster, she did it within herself and she ran time,” Snowden said.
“She had a good blow and that’s why she will do a bit of work again on Tuesday.
“I think she has gone on from the trial, she is eating well and everything points towards there on Saturday and ticking another box.”
Kerrin McEvoy will work Earthquake and stablemate Mohave on Tuesday at Flemington.
McEvoy will then catch the first plane out of Melbourne to Sydney so he can ride Guelph in a barrier trials at Rosehill.
Snowden said he was impressed with the win of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Nayeli, which soared up the betting charts with her win in the Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday.
“It was dominant. She sat on the speed and gave a good kick,” Snowden said.
