Extra Brut has landed Darren Weir a Victoria Derby win with the premier trainer’s first runner in the $2 million race.
Proving to be the superior stayer in a fast-run Derby at only his sixth start, Extra Brut surged to the lead at the 300m and kept going under Australian-based Irish jockey John Allen.
Stars Of Carrum and Chapada filled the minor placings as the favourite Thinkin’ Big wilted out of contention in the straight.
