Guineas ‘Right Sort Of Race’ For Agreeable

The paddock beckons for Anthony and Sam Freedman’s filly, Agreeable, but not before one last crack at banking some black type.

A dual acceptor for Saturday, Sam Freedman confirmed she will line up at Morphettville in the Listed Adelaide Guineas, rather than a handicap at Caulfield, with prestige outweighing prizemoney.

The handicap is worth almost $35,000 more.

“It looks the right sort of race for her,” Freedman junior said on Thursday.

“Her run in the Thousand Guineas (1600m) was good and she had some of the fastest closing sectionals there, so I think the mile really suits.”

Agreeable sits on the third line of betting at $6, with Australian Guineas runner-up Cherry Tortoni at the top of the market at $2.40.

“It’s always hard to take on the boys in these sort of races and, if Cherry Tortoni brings his best form, he’s probably the one to beat,” Freedman said.

“Even a horse like Embolism, they’ve competed at some of the biggest three-year-old races around, so I suppose it’s a mix of which horses are being set for this race.”

While nothing is set in concrete, this will almost certainly be the final run of Agreeable’s preparation as the stable shifts focus to a spring campaign.

“She’s a fairly lightly framed filly and, after this trip to Adelaide, I suspect she might be ready for a break,” he said.
